Greene Co. school bus driver charged with statutory rape

GREENEVILLE –– A Greene County man was arrested by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Wednesday on charges he had sexual relations with a juvenile in October, according to a TBI news release.
According to the release, Jerry E. Malone, 49, was charged after 3rd Judicial District Attorney General Berkeley Bell requested the TBI to investigate allegations that Malone allegedly had sexual relations with a juvenile on Oct. 7.
TBI investigations revealed Malone reportedly met two juveniles on Oct. 7, provided them with alcohol and then went to a residence where he had sexual intercourse with one of the juveniles.
During that time period, Malone was a school bus driver for the Greene County School System.
Malone was charged with one count each of statutory rape by an authority figure, aggravated statutory rape and purchasing alcoholic beverages for a child.
According to the release, the TBI presented the case to a Greene County grand jury, and the grand jury returned an indictment against Malone.
Malone was taken to Greene County Jail and was being held on $30,000 bond.
