Body found in vehicle on Cherokee reservation

CHEROKEE, N.C. — The Asheville Citizen-Times is reporting that police on the Cherokee Indian Reservation found a body in the trunk of a suspect’s vehicle following a chase Wednesday afternoon.
Arkansas authorities notified officers here about a endangered person around 2 p.m. The missing person was reported to have been with a suspect that was wanted in connection with an armed robbery.
Police officers here located a vehicle fitting the description of the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle did not stop, police said, but officers were able to stop it on a drive off of Stillwell Branch Road. They apprehended the driver and a passenger. Chief Ben Reed declined to provide the name of those persons.
Officers searched the vehicle and found the body of a white female in the trunk.
No one was injured during the chase and arrest of the suspects. Local and Arkansas authorities will continue to investigate the case.
Police plan to release more information today.
