Johnson City police arrested an Elizabethton man early this morning on a charge that he used a fraudulent vehicle title to get a loan.

James Melvin Brummitt, 31, 107 Holston Mountain Road, Elizabethton, was charged with theft of property over $1,000.

Police said Brummitt fraudulently obtained a vehicle title and then used the document to get a $2,500 loan on the vehicle at a local title loan business.

Brummitt was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Tuesday.
