Washington County deputies arrest 2 after stopping stolen Corvette

Washington County sheriff's deputies found a wanted man driving a stolen vehicle on Thursday and also arrested his passenger.
Jason C. Hammonds, 38, 201 Browns Mill Road, was arrested after deputies stopped a white Corvette on Tenn. Highway 36 in Gray for speeding, Sheriff Ed Graybeal reported in a news release.
Records checks indicated that Hammonds was wanted on several warrants and the Corvette had been reported stolen in Bristol. Also, the tag on the car had been reported stolen in Johnson City.
Hammond was charged with possession of stolen property over $10,000, speeding, violation of the financial responsibility law and a registration violation. Warrants were served for aggravated burglary, forgery, obtaining narcotics by fraud and failure to appear in court.
His passenger, Scott E. France, 43, 190 Mary St., Gray, was charged with possession of stolen property.
Both were jailed in the Washington County Detention Center pending Sessions Court appearances today. Hammonds' bond was $191,000. France's bond was $10,000.
Hammonds also was set to appear in Criminal Court next term.
