A Jonesborough man was arrested Thursday on charges that he committed theft, used a stolen credit card and tried to run from Johnson City police as he was arrested.
Phillip R. Broyles, 21, 783 Conklin Road, Jonesborough, was charged with four counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, four counts of theft under $500 and felony escape.
His arrest resulted from an investigation into theft that occurred in Washington County around Oct. 8.
Property stolen in that incident included a credit card used at various locations in Washington County and Johnson City. Police said Broyles was identified as the person responsible for the theft and the card's use.
As he was taken into custody Thursday, he tried to run from the arresting officers, resulting in the escape charge, police said.
Broyles was held in the Washington County Detention Center on $15,000 bond and arraigned today in Sessions Court.
