Accused auto burglar arrested by Washington County deputies

A man wanted in Washington County on numerous auto burglary charges was arrested Wednesday in Carter County, according to a Washington County Sheriff’s Office release.
Ralph Thomas Chivary Jr., 25 101 Nelson Drive, Elizabethton, was arrested after WCSO investigators working with the 1st Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office tracked him to the Stoney Creek community residence.
The release said he was found hiding behind a door in the residence. When Chivary was searched, officers found a white powder believed to be cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.
Chivary was wanted by the WCSO on 22 counts of auto burglary, one count of burglary, criminal responsibility for the facilitation of a felony and violation of probation. His bond was set at $310,000 and Chivary is scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court this morning.
Another man charged in the case, Jerry Robert Porter, 36, 127 Patrick Lane, Gray, has been in custody since his arrest Nov. 4, the WCSO said.
