Man charged with theft of copper from Johnson City business

A man accused of stealing copper from heat pumps early Monday morning was charged with theft and other crimes when police went to check on a suspicious person.
Johnson City police charged Arnold Ebalo, 57, 715 E. Fairview Ave., with theft of property under $500, vandalism and aggravated criminal trespassing.
Police were checking on a suspicious person inside a fenced lot at 71 Wilson Ave. around 12:20 a.m. Monday. The man ran but was caught and identified as Ebalo.
Police said copper was being stolen from the heat pumps at the business located there.
He was being held on $7,000 bond at the Washington County Detention Center.
Ebalo was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court Monday afternoon.
