ELIZABETHTON — A man was accused of selling marijuana in the parking lot of Valley Forge Elementary School in the middle of the afternoon last Monday.
Noah Allen Gouge, 33, 612 W. C St., was arrested by Lt. Jeff Markland of the Carter County Sheriff's Department on a charge of possession of Schuedule VI drug for resale.
Markland reported he had received a call from Constable Tim Lyons at 2:47 p.m. Lyons said he was on foot and he had observed what he thought was drug transaction in the parking lot. The transaction had been between someone in a white car and someone in a Chevrolet Suburban.
Markland said he saw the Suburban leaving the parking lot and began following. He conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 19E and identified the driver as Gouge.
Markland said Gouge admitted to having 13 grams of marijuana with him. Gouge allegedly told Markland he did not smoke marijuana but needed some money. Markland then arrested Gouge and also seized $308 in cash that Gouge had in his possession and the Suburban.
