A man was arrested Monday in Johnson City on a charge that he bought a Mississippi woman's Social Security number after he entered the U.S. and used it to open a satellite TV service account.
Frederico Camargo, 35, 2717 S. Roan St., No. 12, was charged with identity theft.
Police said Camargo was arrested after a woman from Mississippi notified Johnson City police that someone had used her Social Security number to open a Dish Network account in the Johnson City area.
The investigation revealed that Camargo had used the victim’s Social Security number to open the account. Camargo admitted to buying the Social Security number after making entry into the country.
Camargo was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Wednesday.
