Staff Report • Nov 5, 2012 at 4:34 PM

Two Carter County men recently were arrested in Johnson City on charges that they burglarized a vehicle parked at a business on North State of Franklin Road.

Police caught up with James J. Long, 21, 641 McQueen St., Butler, and Bryon M.  Burrell, 22, 530 Coal Chute Rd., Elizabethton, when stopping a vehicle described by a witness, according to a news release.

About 4 a.m. Friday, police went to 508 N. State of Franklin to check out a burglary reported by a 911 caller. The Hampton Inn is located at that address.

The caller told dispatchers two men were looking into vehicles in the parking lot and entered a vehicle before leaving in a truck. Police stopped a vehicle matching that description a short distance away.

Long and Burrell were charged with auto burglary and possession of burglary tools. Each man was jailed on $12,500 bond in the Washington County Detention Center and arraigned later Friday in Sessions Court.
