The Washington County Jaynes Justice Center in Jonesborough was briefly evacuated shortly before noon today as authorities searched for a bomb.
Washington County/Johnson City 911 received a call stating that a woman had a bomb in a bathroom in the courthouse.
A search was conducted for the alleged bomb, but nothing was found. Center employees and visitors were allowed to return shortly after the all-clear was given.
The downtown Courthouse was searched but not evacuated.
Washington County Sheriff's Department Capt. Larry Denny said the caller reported overhearing a statement from another woman in a bathroom near the Washington County Election Commission's voting office. The Election Commission office is in the downtown Courthouse.
The cell phone where the call originated was a non-traceable number, and the call originated from Jonesborough, Denny said.
The investigation was continuing.
