KINGSPORT — A Texas man, who was noticed by Kingsport police for having his SUV on a closed road, has been arrested after allegedly attempting to strike a patrol officer with his vehicle.
Jesse Lloyd Woods, 24, of Houston, Texas, is charged in the early Tuesday morning incident with aggravated assault, evading arrest, driving under the influence and driving on a closed road. A Kingsport Police Department arrest report says an officer in the area of Tri-Cities Crossing, at the Interstates 26 and 81 interchange, observed a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse at the end of a closed, barricaded road.
The officer approached the vehicle and activated the lights on his squad car. The Chevrolet's driver, later identified as Woods, allegedly "made several attempts to turn his vehicle around" — ending up sideways on the closed road.
