Johnson City man charged with burglarizing local churches

Johnson City police have charged a man with numerous burglaries of local churches, according to a news release.
Jaremy Taylor Kazen, 18, 268 W. Main St., No. 13, was charged early Saturday with eight counts of burglary, two counts of theft of an auto over $10,000, two counts of theft of an auto over $1,000, four counts of theft of property over $1,000 and theft of property under $500.
Police had been investigating a string of burglaries dating back to mid-September, seven of which happened at churches and one that occurred at the Legion Street Recreation building.
Four vehicles were stolen from the sites of some of the burglaries. Those vehicles have been recovered, police said.
Kazen was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and was being held on $162,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court Monday at 9 a.m.
