ELIZABETHTON — Elizabethton police arrested a Carter County woman they say filed a false report that a town officer harassed and stalked her, according to a department press release.
Tiffany D. Scalf, 23, 308 Johnson Ave. Apt. A, Elizabethton told police on Oct. 11 that an officer stopped her vehicle and assaulted her when he pushed her against her vehicle.
Scalf went on to claim the officer had been stalking and harassing her.
When the police department investigated the alleged incident, Capt. Joy Markland discovered the accused officer was not working at the time Scalf claimed she had been pulled over.
Investigators also reviewed a surveillance camera from a business where the alleged stop occurred, but there was no traffic stop at that location when Scalf said it happened.
According to the press release, investigators confronted Scalf with conflicts between the evidence and her details and “she admitted that she had fabricated the entire incident and all of the allegations she had made against the officer were not true.”
