A Johnson City man was arrested Saturday in connection with a stolen vehicle taken from a local motel at the first of the month, police said.
According to a release, a Johnson City police officer observed a vehicle traveling without headlights on and after a records check found that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
The officer approached the driver of the vehicle and two other individuals and the driver told police that Jeffrey A. Brown, 46, had given him permission to drive the vehicle.
After locating Brown and escorting him back to the vehicle in question, Brown admitted to having the vehicle for over a week.
He was charged with theft of property of a motor vehicle over $500 and was taken to the Washington County Detention Center.
Brown was being held on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court Monday at 9 a.m.
The stolen vehicle was returned to its owner.
