Thousands of dollars in equipment stolen from Carter County church

ELIZABETHTON — Musical and electronic equipment, television sets and guitars worth several thousand dollars were stolen from Zion Baptist Church, 1982 Gap Creek Road over the weekend.

Deputy Brian Smithpeters reported that all the glass had been broken out of a front door.

Pastor Alan King told Smithpeters the stolen church equipment included a Sony video camera and Manfrotto tripod, valued at $5,000; a Peavey 32-channel mixing board, valued at $2,000; three Audio Technica microphones, valued at $1,200; two Vizio 28-inch flat screen televisions with built in DVD players, valued at $700; a 22-inch Vizio television monitor, valued at $300.

King told Smithpeters the burglar also stole 10 guitars that were privately owned.
