DAYTON — The head of a Tennessee Christian college has apologized for trying to suppress a student newspaper story about a professor arrested on child sex charges.
According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/S53Whk ), Bryan College President Stephen Livesay issued a statement in which he said his spiking of the report was not intended to offend anyone and he regrets any offense taken.
The editor of the Bryan College Triangle wrote a story about Biblical studies professor David Morgan, who was arrested during an FBI child molestation sting in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.
After Livesay insisted the student paper not print the report, editor Alex Green distributed it himself, placing flyers across campus on Monday.
Livesay said that in hindsight, his killing of the newspaper story "might have been a mistake."
