Woman accused of assaulting store employee while shoplifting

Johnson City police recently arrested a Virginia woman on accusations that she assaulted a mall store employee as she tried to flee a shoplifting incident.

Kimberly Dawn Guerriero, 43, 1725 Baptist Valley Road, Cedar Bluff, Va., was charged Aug. 30 as a result of an investigation into stolen property from the Belk men’s and women’s store at The Mall at Johnson City.

Police said she stole more than $1,000 in merchandise and assaulted a loss prevention associate in an attempt to flee prosecution.

Guerriero was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $11,000 bond and arraigned Friday in Sessions Court.
