MEMPHIS — A Kingsport woman has died in a Tennessee prison a year after pleading guilty to attempted murder and aggravated arson for setting fire to an occupied home.
Tina Michelle Parrish, 36, died Friday in the Mark Luttrell Correctional Center in Memphis. Tennessee Department of Correction spokeswoman Dorinda Carter advised preliminary autopsy results indicate suicide, but the full report has not yet been completed.
Parrish was serving a 15-year sentence after pleading guilty April 11, 2011, to attempted firstdegree murder and aggravated arson for setting fire to 2244 Netherland Terrace in the early morning hours of Aug. 5, 2009, while a resident, Carl Bernard, was sleeping.
