Petitions under way to allow liquor by the drink in Unicoi County

ERWIN — Unicoi County resident John Day said he believes now is the right time for the citizens of Erwin and Unicoi County to decide if liquor by the drink should be sold in town and county restaurants.

Day, spokesman for the Unicoi County Citizens for Good Governance, has started a pair of petitions — one for residents of Unicoi County and the other for citizens living within the limits of the town of Erwin — that aim to have a liquor by the drink referendum placed on the November ballots for voters residing in each municipality.
