New twist in Confederate flag flap

ELIZABETHTON — A survey done by an archaeologist on Wednesday indicates a flagpole erected last fall in Green Hill Cemetery was inadvertently placed through someone’s grave.

The cemetery was a scene of controversy in October when the Sons of Confederate Veterans erected the flagpole against the wishes of the Watauga Historical Association.
