Johnson City police arrested a Hamilton Street man Sunday on an accusation that he hit a bystander with a baseball bat during an argument with three other men.
Johnny R. Williams, 31, 419 Hamilton St., was charged with aggravated assault.
Police said the arrest came after a woman called 911 claiming to have been hit by a baseball bat. Officers found that she had minor injuries after she was hit during an altercation between Williams and three other men.
According to a police report, Jason McKenney told police he came home to find that his bedroom door had been broken open and his cable box had been removed.
When McKenney and other witnesses confronted Williams about the incident, Williams grabbed a baseball bat and started swinging it wildly throughout the house, witnesses told police.
Williams hit Kathleen Sterling, 22, Johnson City, in the abdomen and on the left hand with the bat. Her hand was bruised and swollen, and her abdomen was bruised, but she did not request medical attention, police said in the report.
Williams was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $20,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.
