Fire damages condo in east Johnson City

Staff report • Mar 1, 2012 at 4:11 PM

No one was injured Thursday when a fire started at Daventry Village

Condominiums causing an estimated $2,000 in damages, said Johnson City

Fire Department Lt. Mike Oliver. Firefighters responded to a call at 2012

Oakland Avenue at about 3 p.m. and found the porch and parts of the wood

shingles surrounding two entry doors on fire. The occupants of one

condominium were home and told Oliver that at least one of them was

smoking in the area before the fire. The occupant(s) of the nearby

condominium was not at home. Oliver said the fire was quickly extinguished

and that fans were used to dissipate smoke, which also damaged the inside

of the residence.
