BULLS GAP — The Bulls Gap Railroad Museum in downtown Bulls Gap received a new exhibit Sunday afternoon when two locomotive engines derailed a stone’s throw from the museum at the town’s historic railroad junction.
The Norfolk Southern train derailment forced authorities to block roads, cutting off a section of town adjacent to the Hamblen County line so the railroad could bring in a crane and other removal equipment.
Norfolk Southern Public Relations Director Susan Terpay said the derailment occurred around 12:30 p.m. Sunday shortly after leaving the rail yard en route to Andover, Va.
