ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County man who allegedly admitted to injecting the synthetic drug “bath salts” Sunday night was charged with public intoxication and aggravated domestic assault for allegedly beating his fiancée over the head with a “Maglite” flashlight, although a rape allegation is also being investigated.
Shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jeremy Nash was dispatched to Old Route 70 regarding a possible rape and a chase of some sort taking place on the river bottom.
Nash found Herbert Kyle Southerland, 37, and his 23-year-old fiancée hiding behind an old house on Old Route 70 about two miles from where the complaint originated.
