A former employee of a city tobacco store was arrested on theft charges Monday for allegedly stealing nearly $4,000 in products in December, according to Johnson City police.
Christopher L. Gibson, 45, 1700 Davebuck Road, was charged with theft of property after police responded to an embezzlement call at Redi-Mart Discount Tobacco, 400 North Broadway Street.
According to the police report, store management discovered that Gibson had allegedly stolen $3,800 worth of tobacco products from the store.
Police said Gibson admitted to officers and management that he did steal the products.
Gibson was being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of $5,000 bond pending an appearance in Sessions Court.
