Johnson City police arrested an 18-year-old city man Sunday on drug charges after finding him with drugs in a West Walnut Street parking lot, police said in a news release.
Timothy Blackmon, 512 Swadley Road, No. 68, was charged with possession of schedule I drugs for resale, possession of schedule VI drugs for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police were checking a “suspicious vehicle” in the parking lot of Air Experts at 2501 W. Walnut St. and encountered Blackmon and an unidentified passenger. Officers saw drug paraphernalia, and after a search, they found a “substantial” amount of drugs, including several bags of a green leafy substance, a bag of mushrooms and a small bottle containing a white powder, police said.
In addition to the drugs, police also found baggies and a couple of digital scales.
According to the police report, while police were conducting the search, the passenger got out of the car and ran down Embreeville Road.
Officers were unable to locate the passenger. Blackmon reportedly told police all of the items found belonged him and “that the passenger had nothing to do with it.”
Blackmon was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $21,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.
