KNOXVILLE - The community is invited to take part in a memorial walk and candlelight gathering Tuesday afternoon downtown to honor two workers who died in 2011 in accidents during the Henley Bridge renovation.
The walk will take place 5 p.m. Tuesday, beginning at Henley Street and Hill Avenue in front of the Church Street Methodist Church. It will end at Volunteer Landing, where the candlelight gathering will take place at 6 p.m.
Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of the death of the first worker, 33-year-old John Womac, of Athens, Tenn. Womac died after a track hoe operator's jacket struck a lever causing a boom to lower and strike Womac.
