We were saddened to hear of the passing of D.R. “Dick” Beeson Jr., who died earlier this week at the age of 90. Beeson was both an inspirational leader and an innovator in his professional, governmental and civic endeavors.
As an architect, Beeson designed homes, schools and other buildings that stand today as monuments to his good taste and practicality.
As a civic leader, Beeson built friendships and forged relationships that strengthened our community.
As a city commissioner and vice mayor, Beeson led the way on projects that helped to define Johnson City as the most progressive municipality in the region.
Johnson City was Beeson’s home. It’s where he was born and it’s where he lived his entire life.
And we, the citizens of Johnson City, are grateful to have had him as one of our neighbors.
