Elizabethton police investigate another counterfeit bill

ELIZABETHTON — Another local retailer has reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill, police said. The latest victim is Tractor Supply, 210 Cherokee Park Drive.

Employee Shane Hicks reported the bill to Justin Pearce of the Elizabethton Police Department. Hicks said the bill was received by the store on Friday, and it was returned by the bank on Saturday.

Pearce took the bill into evidence. He said the serial number on the bill was AL92661603C.

Several stores and restaurants in the city and Carter County have reported receiving counterfeit bills recently. Two arrests have been made.
