DUFFIELD, Va. — Authorities say they are awaiting autopsy results before releasing the name of a person killed in a house fire near Duffield late Thursday night.
Duffield Volunteer Fire Department Chief Roger Carter said the fire was reported to Scott County Central Dispatch at approximately 11:55 p.m.
Despite responding to the scene in under 10 minutes, Carter said firefighters arrived at the 301 Monitor Drive residence to find it fully engulfed in flames. Carter said the unidentified person’s body was located inside the house and has been sent to Roanoke for autopsy.
