ELIZABETHTON — A city man classified as a sex offender was arrested by the Elizabethton Police Department on Wednesday on a charge he did report to the department during December as required by law.
Tony Hildebrand, 36, 608 Trudy St., was charged with violation of the sex offender registry by Investigator Chris Bowers. Bowers said Hildebrand is classified as a “violent offender.”
Bowers said the law requires Hildebrand to report quarterly in March, June, September and December. Hildebrand has two offenses listed on the registry, a rape charge in 2000 and a statutory rape charge in 1998.
Hildebrand is scheduled to answer the registry violation charge in Sessions Court on Jan. 30. He was being held in the Carter County Jail with bond at $10,000.
