Assistance sought in locating burglars

ERWIN — The Unicoi County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in solving several holiday season burglaries that occurred at four different homes.
According to a release issued by the UCSD, the first burglary occurred on Dec. 19 at a home on Stockton Road. Items taken from the home include a 220 welder, a 110 Craftsman welder, a Stihl power saw, a Winchester rifle, Craftsman tools and a box of Case knives.
A saddle which was taken during this burglary was recovered at a local business, according to the UCSD. The seller is described as a heavy-set man with dark hair. He was accompanied by a “heavy-set female with blondish brown hair,” according to the UCSD.
Lt. David Walker is in charge of the investigation and those with any information are encouraged to call Walker at 743-1861 or 388-0354.
On Dec. 23, a homemade trailer was stolen from a home located at 2161 Tenn. Highway 107 in the Limestone Cove community, according to the UCSD. The trailer is described as being 12 feet in length, gray and open.
On Dec. 24, a van parked at a residence on Bluebird Court was entered and approximately $3,700 in tools were stolen, according to the UCSD. Items taken include a Dewalt drill, a reciprocating saw, a set of refrigeration gauges as well as a set of Black and Decker tools.
Also on Dec. 24, a vehicle on Ruble Lane was broken into. Items taken include a socket set and sets of standard and metric wrenches.
Sgt. Josh Randolph is in charge of these three investigations. Anyone with information is asked to call him at 743-1861 or 388-0433. Any and all information provided to UCSD investigators is confidential.
Chief Investigator Ken Potter said is asking anyone with information to contact the department if they have information about someone selling the types of items taken, particularly if the items are being sold below market value price.
Potter also asks those who have purchased items such as the ones taken to attempt to attain information including tag numbers, names and phone numbers.
