Sycamore Shoals Hospital’s radiology departments were recently accredited by the American College of Radiology. The mammography, MRI, CT and nuclear medicine departments have all received full accreditation.
To achieve the ACR Gold Standard of Accreditation, SSH’s radiology team members’ qualifications, equipment requirements, quality assurance and quality control procedures have gone through a rigorous review process and have met specific qualifications. Every aspect of the ACR accreditation process is overseen by board-certified, expert radiologists and medical physicists in advanced diagnostic imaging.
SSH was also recognized recently by The Joint Commission for delivery of high-quality care to patients with congestive heart failure. The Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification for Heart Failure certifies that SSH has demonstrated compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in the care of CHF patients. In order to achieve Advanced Certification for Heart Failure, an organization must deliver outstanding care while the patient is in the hospital and have a strong focus on coordination of care after discharge. Post-discharge follow-up appointments with primary care, coordination of home health and other services become critical because one of the expectations of the certification program is that patients are not readmitted to the hospital.
