First of all, why would a state Republican Party Executive Committee member feel it appropriate to attack a citizen running for a county office?
Second, if someone chooses to verbally beat up another individual, the abuser should make sure they have the facts correct so there is no misinforming or omission of pertinent information. As Harris himself stated, Grandy is serving is second term on the County Commission and was not a part of the commission in 2007 when a large debt was incurred. This debt was not eligible to be refinanced until last year, and Grandy was there and was a part of the refinancing that will provide a substantial savings of over $19 million to the people of Washington County.
Third, if I’m not mistaken, I believe that East Tennessee State University is the largest employer in Washington County, so why would the county not want to support the performing arts center? It only stands to reason that improvement in the university will bring higher enrollment and more jobs, both which will benefit the county.
In closing, I urge the voters to remember who is looking out for the taxpayer — Joe Grandy. That’s where is has been as your commissioner and will continue to be as your mayor. Support someone who has your best interest at heart. That’s what I plan to do.
