Rain fails to dampen mood at town’s festival
Rain showers slowed things down a bit for day two of the Jonesborough Days festival. However, while it may have soaked the streets and crafts it didn’t dampen the spirits of the people.

Elizabethton parade features veterans, flyovers, memorial
ELIZABETHTON – Thousands of people lined East Elk Avenue for an hour of patriotism and fun Friday afternoon with Elizabethton’s Annual Fourth of July Parade.

The parade may have been even more patriotic this year and certainly more poignant because one of the major components of the parade, Elizabethton’s own 776th Maintenance Company, has been alerted that the Tennessee National Guard unit could soon be headed for a second tour in Iraq. More...
Main Street parade kicks off three-day celebration of Jonesborough Days
Red, white and blue flooded the streets of downtown Jonesborough Friday as the Jonesborough Days Festival kicked off its 38th year.

Things got started at 10 a.m. as thousands lined Main Street for the parade, which included floats by several local businesses and organizations. Spectators were able to enjoy an assortment of decorated floats as well as performances from Civil War re-enactors, Native Americans, jugglers and more. More...
Rockets Red Galore - Thousands turn out for spectacular fireworks show at Freedom Hall
The Fourth of July fireworks at Freedom Hall is one party the hosts don’t have to worry about no one showing up for.

As usual, thousands of people — make that tens of thousands — poured onto the grounds of Freedom Hall Civic Center and surrounding neighborhoods Friday for the 23rd annual Pepsi Independence Day Fireworks Celebration. More...
