The Watercooler: Some familiar ‘Big Brother’ faces would be welcome house guests

CBS has issued a press release introducing 12 house guests of “Big Brother 11.” A 13th mystery guest will be revealed when the season premieres July 9, but CBS hints that the face will be familiar to “Big Brother” followers. This tells me the show is bringing back a contestant from a past season.

That’s fine with me, I just hope “Big Brother” doesn’t inflict on us another season of Evel Dick or his whiny daughter Danielle. And please, no more Allison, Mike Boogie or anyone from the Nerd Herd of Season 6.

There are a few past house guests I wouldn’t mind seeing again. Among them:

Will Kirby, winner of Season 2 and a member of “Big Brother All-Stars.” It’s hard not to fall victim to Dr. Will’s charms. I know he’s already won the $500,000 prize — and helped fellow Chill Town member Mike Boogie win “All-Stars” — but Will’s talent for establishing multiple alliances without making permanent enemies of anyone can make even the dullest house guests seem interesting by association.

Jason Guy, Season 3. Jason took a lot of teasing for being a virgin and a born-again Christian in the summer of 2002, but what a sweetheart! He might have won if Danielle had been loyal to him to the end, and he was cheated out of a spot in the All-Stars cast in Season 7.

Jase Wirey, Season 5 and All-Stars. Jase is just fun to watch. He’s never played a very smart game and is probably most famous as the first back-door evictee. Nakomis came up with what she called the “Six Finger Plan,” nominating Diane and Marvin for eviction when Jase was the target all along. Drew won the veto, used it to take girlfriend Diane off the block and Nakomis replaced her with Jase, who was evicted 6-1, coming in 10th place.

Nakomis Dedmon, Season 5 and All-Stars. I love a risk taker who can rally the troops. (See the Six Finger Plan, above.)

Janelle Pierzina., Season 6 and All-Stars. Blond bombshell Janelle should have won BB All-Stars. She dominated the competitions and was a master manipulator and strategizer. Her downfall: falling for Dr. Will Kirby. Without him to distract her, maybe she could make it all the way this time.

Kaysar Ridha, Season 6 and All-Stars. Kaysar’s gotten more do-overs than any previous “Big Brother” contestant. Ring leader of the Sovereign Six alliance (the best alliance in BB history), Kaysar was voted out in Week 5, voted back in by fans in Week 6, then sent to the jury house in Week 7. He returned in Season 7 along with fellow Season 6 All-Stars Janelle, Howie and James, and was evicted in Week 6. He’s too good for such a poor record, so I’d love to see him get one more chance at the big prize.

Eric Stein, America’s Player, Season 8. He was fun to root for in Season 8, but I think being America’s Player ruined any chance he might have had to win the thing. After doing our bidding for three months, Eric deserves a chance to play the game on his own terms.

Dan Gheesling, winner, Season 10. I love Dan. Last summer, he played the game with unpredictable brazenness and zeal and annoyed his housemates without annoying me.

Brian Hart, Season 10. Brian took chances and stirred the pot ungracefully and way too soon, making him a target and the first person evicted last summer. It would be interesting to see whether he learned from his mistakes and could find a strategy that might take him further in the game.
