The duo produces music that, at times, is hard to classify. That’s just fine by Kris Bentley and Nick Jamerson. All they need is the strum of guitar strings and Kris’s cajon driving the beat. Their lyrics describe the lives of their families, friends and fans, as well as their own.
Bentley and Jamerson have been friends since they were in elementary school. They both grew up singing in their church for fun while starring in high school sports in Prestonsburg, Ky. After college sports success for each, Kris in basketball and Nick in football, the friendship continued in music as they began playing patio parties, restaurants, and clubs, often playing four-hour sets each night. Both prolific songwriters, they bring songs to each other and together create their own style and sound. They decided in 2012 to record some of these songs that they self-produced along with their friend and filmmaker Coleman Saunders, and independently released “Door Without A Screen” that year.
In 2012, music veteran Van Fletcher caught the buzz and began attending shows and watching the reactions of the fans and quickly became a fan of the sound, the songs and of Nick and Kris. CMT discovered them early in 2013 and began playing their video “Home” in late April. The video has been in the Top 5 at CMT Pure since the debut, enhancing their fan base across every platform there is to grow.
Entertainment One, an independent film, TV, and music company, quickly signed them to a multi-album deal and will re-release “Door Without A Screen” on Aug. 27, adding six songs, including new ones, as well as fan favorites from their shows.
