A trustee’s office manages the millions of dollars that flow into and out of the county. It collects all state and county taxes on property, receives and distributes all other funding, pays the county’s bills and manages the county’s investment portfolio.
If that’s not banking, we don’t know what is. That’s why believe Rick Storey is the right choice for Washington County trustee.
Storey would bring more than 40 years experience in banking, as well as a record in public service as a county commissioner and member of the Johnson City Development Authority. He has the necessary background in fund management, as well as understanding of county government.
Based on his answers to our survey questions, we see that Storey has an open mind about operations in the trustee’s office as he looks for efficiencies and best customer service practices.
Voters should be encouraged by Storey’s statements about sound investment requirements and strategies, as he displayed a deep appreciation for the ramifications of unsafe investments. He’s right when he says they are not investments at all.
We recommend a vote for Rick Storey as Washington County’s next trustee in Tuesday’s Republican primary.
