People in business and business briefs are published as space
permits. Information can be accepted only in writing, and every
news release must include a contact number. The deadline each
week is noon Thursday.
People in business is for annual awards, promotions, job changes,
special designations, appointments or election to professional
organizations and retirements after 25 years or more with the
same company. Clearly labeled photos of individuals are accepted
and may be picked up within 30 days of publication during regular
business. After 30 days, photos will be discarded. The Press
cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged photographs.
Please do not submit a photo that cannot be replaced.
Business briefs are for new businesses opened within the last
90 days, new products or additions to a product line, office
or company location changes, acquisitions, mergers or news of
special interest. Photos cannot be used with business briefs.
To submit an announcement for consideration, bring the item

The Johnson City Press is pleased to accept articles of local
interest to highlight achievements of young people and educators.
Student News and People in Education appear Mondays
as enough entries become available to achieve a column. News
releases are used on a space-available basis and are subject
to staff review and editing.
No information is accepted by telephone. Typed entries are preferred,
and all information must be legible.
Honor societies, organization memberships, merit
badges or selections to Whos Who and
U.S. Achievement Academy are not accepted. Pageant entries
are limited to winners only. Conference attendance entries
are not
published in Student News and People in Education.
The newspaper accepts clearly labeled, yearbook-style photographs.
Group photographs, presentation pictures and those of people
holding awards, trophies, certificates or checks are not accepted.
All photographs become property of the Press and may be retrieved
from the newspaper's main office up to 30 days after publication,
after which they are culled. The newspaper is not responsible
for lost or damaged photos. Please do not send photos that cannot
be replaced.
The Press also accepts meeting notices, program invitations,
PTA announcements, registration deadlines and other education-related
items of local interest. The deadline for inclusion in each
Mondays Noteworthy column is Thursday at 4 p.m. Each qualifying
item will be published once.

to the Press office by 5 p.m. Wednesday for publication each

to the large number of events, we cannot accept phone calls.
The Johnson City Press frequently includes photographs of bands,
dance groups, concert performers, theatrical ensembles, artwork,
etc., along with information about their upcoming performances

The Johnson City Press welcomes and publishes letters to the
editor, provided writers sign their names and addresses and
limit letters to 250 words. One letter per writer will be used
in the newspaper in a four-week period. The Johnson City
Press reserves the right to edit all letters.

provided the sender includes their name, address and telephone
number. Please do not send letters via e-mail that are typed
in all capital letters.
All letters to the editor are used on a first-come, first-served
basis, and the Johnson City Press cannot guarantee what day
letters will appear in the newspaper.
The deadline for Tempo briefs is one week before the date of
the event. Briefs must be submitted in writing and must include
the name of the event, the location, time, date and a number
to contact for more information. Briefs are published as space
permits; incomplete briefs will not be published. Briefs run
on a one-time-only basis.

Religion news is published in the Saturday edition of the Johnson
City Press. While efforts will be made to accommodate requests
to publish briefs on specific dates, space considerations prevent
being able to make guarantees of such requests.
Church news items run on a one-time-only basis. Items for the

should be typed or written legibly. They may also be faxed to

events, such as a singing for a sick person or to help a needy
family will be accepted in church news. However, items concerning
church fund-raising events, such as breakfasts, suppers, yard
sales, car washes, etc., should being directed to the Tempo
