Referring to themselves as "The Boobie Brothers," Freddy Stylez, a DJ for Electric 94.9, and his friend Jeff Hicks, were out raising funds and awareness for the Tri-Cities and Kingsport chapter of Susan G. Komen from 7-9 a.m., and said they were able to raise around $1,200 for the cause.
Stylez said the radio station, the sponsors of the bra event, came to him to participate four years ago, knowing he had lost his mother to breast cancer.
"The reason they came to me was they knew that I liked to get out in the public and be seen, but also (because of) the fact that my mom went through three rounds of breast cancer," he said. "Breast cancer awareness is dear and close to my heart for a very personal reason."
Both Stylez and Hicks have fashioned the pink bras throughout the Tri-Cities this week, and said the response has been phenomenal.
"We did one morning in Kingsport, two in Bristol and this is our second one here in Johnson City area and it has been a very big response, especially this location this morning," he said.
Together the men have raised over $1,300 and said they hope to continue the fundraiser for years to come.
