Suspicious package shuts down Tri-Cities Regional Airport, turns out to be harmless

BLOUNTVILLE — A suspicious package that prompted security at Tri-Cities Regional Airport to shut down the facility and stop all flights Sunday afternoon turned out to be harmless.

A spokesperson from the Transportation Security Administration told the Times-News on Sunday evening that the suspicious item had been “cleared” and there was “no threat.”
