In an ideal world, many American moms would work part-time, according to a Pew Research Center survey of mothers.
About 47 percent of mothers in the survey who have children younger than 18 say they’d like to work part-time — and about 44 percent of moms who already work full time say they’d prefer to ditch their busy work life for a part-time schedule. Unfortunately for those working moms, most say they can’t work outside the home less because they’re out of options (see this related opinion piece: http://aje.me/13zxvOu ).
Even moms who aren’t employed outside the home often say they’d like to be: about 40 percent of them want to work part-time, according to the survey.
