For the past several years the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club has been holding toy drives and distributing their collections to the boys and girls who live in the EHDA housing.
EHDA Executive Director Kelly Geagley said “The generosity of these fine ladies and gentlemen has provided a merry Christmas for the kids for several years.” He said it all began when member of the motorcycle club approached the EHDA and asked if they could help with Christmas and EHDA activities.
Geagley said the members of the club took it upon themselves to to conduct the toy drive at the Elizabethton Walmart, accepting toys and donations for the youngsters. After completing the fund drive, the members deliver their treasures to the housing agency.
Geagley said the club has donated over $50,000 worth of toys, coats, bicycles and gift cards.
As part of the big day, the housing agency hosts a children’s Christmas party, including food, beverages, games and a special visit from Santa Claus, to pass out the gifts. Members of the Ghost Riders attend the party and help with the festivities. The only requirement the Ghost Riders have in their annual toy drive is to spend all the money on the children.
“We would like to publicly thank the members of the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club for their efforts and generosity,” Geagley said. “Thanks to their members, the children residing in the public housing community are able to have a very, merry Christmas.
“Please remember when you see the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club conducting a toy and donation drive that it goes to a wonderful cause and you are helping children who are not as fortunate as others to have a merry Christmas. Also, please give these fine, caring ladies and gentlemen a big thank you.”
