Dr. Robert Lewis and Martha Bledsoe Sams celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, with a Caribbean Cruise to Aruba and Curacao with their entire family.

The couple were married on Dec. 21, 1962, at Sylvan Hills Baptist Church, Atlanta, while Dr. Sams was stationed there in the U.S. Army.

Dr. Sams is an optometrist.

Mrs. Sams is the former Martha Bledsoe. She is a retired registered nurse.

The couple have two children, Brian Lewis Sams and Amy Louise Sams Outland; and two grandchildren, Austin Lewis Outland and Madelyn Louise Outland, all of Elizabethton.
