Gene and Jackie Markland, Johnson City, celebrated their 65th anniversary Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at the home of their granddaughter.

The couple were married on Dec. 24. 1947, in Johnson City, by the Rev. Dennis Crowe.

Mr. Markland is a retired auto parts salesman.

Mrs. Markland is the former Jackie Slagle. She is a retired seamstress, and retired from Harris Tarkett.

The couple have two children, Sheila Stinson and husband Benny of Johnson City, and Freddy Markland and wife Susi of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Anita, Glynn, Sheilan, Richard, Desiree; seven great-grandchildren, Meghan, Ashley, Marlie, Derek, Shelbie, Sophie, Khloe; and one great-grandchild, Rhiley.
