The U.S. capped its best year for hiring in 15 years with a healthy job gain in December and the unemployment rate falling to a six-year low. The data adds to signs of strength that contrast with sputtering global growth.

It was a non-conference tilt, but at this point in the season it really didn't matter to either as both teams wanted to get some momentum heading into the brunt of conference play. Happy Valley wore down UH late and took a needed 60-53 win.
