Mother's boyfriend charged in death of Tennessee infant

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged a Benton County man with murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of his girlfriend's baby.

The victim was identified as Patrick Hampton, 31, of Erwin. According to police officials, Hampton was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

Rat snakes can be mistaken for poisonous copperheads, although Principal Josh Davis and Director of Schools Jubal Yennie said the two snakes inside the building were definitely rat snakes, not copperheads.
